The BusyB - Week of 6.24.24 🐝
Welcome to your weekly serving of inspiration, focusing on movement, nourishment, and intention. Let's dive in!
Becks’ Brief 💌
It's that time of the week again where we pause, reflect, and prepare for the week ahead. I'm excited to have you here with me in our shared journey of wellness, empowerment, and balance!
I have to be honest - life has turned upside down with my recent move! When I’m not working, all my energy has been going into making my new space feel like home. This past weekend, I actually flew back to New Jersey to bring my cat, Leo, down to Florida with us. I wish I could say that all my non-negotiables and health practices remained priorities, but in all honesty, they didn’t. It’s a unique time in my life where my focus is narrow, and I want to remind you – it’s okay if this happens from time to time. In these passing moments, remind yourself that it’s temporary.
Today, I’m flying back to Florida and starting week #2 in my new apartment. Part of the reason my move demanded so much of my attention was that the apartment wasn’t quite ready for move-in, so there was a lot of work to do after we had already moved in 🫠. It honestly consumed all my physical and mental energy.
Now that I’m settling in more, it feels like the right time to get back on track. Being out of my routine for almost a month due to work travel and moving has made it a real challenge to regain my rhythm with all the motivation and enthusiasm I usually have. One simple yet effective tip I want to share is certainly not revolutionary, but something that can serve as a reminder for us all - scheduling my routine.
From waking up, to working out, to meal prepping, to unpacking boxes and putting away clothes, just scheduling my day has made a world of difference. Not only do I have a plan, but I also have a way to hold myself accountable. If something comes up and I can’t stick to the schedule, I’m compelled to reschedule it, just as I would with a colleague’s meeting if a conflict came up.
The biggest impact this has had on me is with my movement. Since my movement has been quite random and inconsistent lately, getting back into a consistent rhythm has been tough. Scheduling my movement and specifically signing up for workout classes, then adding them to my calendar, has been the real winner. And take it a step further, planning for the week ahead ensures I don’t skip movement because it’s not on the calendar.
I’m excited to get back into my routine after living in limbo for some time. It truly reminds me how well I perform when my life is balanced and how much calmer and more content I am when I have a plan! Until next week – when I’m settled and can expand my focus again 😊💫.
